Events to foster accessibility, disability inclusion

Brock will mark Global Accessibility Awareness Day and National AccessAbility Week with a series of workshops and activities designed to support equity and inclusion at the University.

The Brock community is invited to participate in a packed schedule of events schedule organized by the Office of Human Rights and Equity (HRE), Centre for Pedagogical Innovation (CPI), Student Accessibility Services (SAS), the Brock University Library, the Centre for Adaptive Physical Activity, the Anti-Ableism and Mental Health Committee, the Brock-Niagara Centre of Excellence in Inclusive and Adaptive Physical Activity and other teams across campus.

Throughout the week, faculty and instructors can participate in CPI’s Teaching Resource Challenge, which offers the opportunity to learn more about creating accessible teaching and learning spaces. Participants who submit a completed challenge portfolio at the end of the week will have a chance to win a prize. Questions and accommodation requests can be sent to can be sent to [email protected]

SAS and the Student Wellness and Accessibility Centre Wellness Hub will host “low-stim” drop-in sessions for students from 1 to 3:30 p.m. each day from Monday, May 25 to Friday, May 29 in the TH 134.

Members of the Brock community can also mark the occasion by exploring a poster exhibition displayed at different locations across campus and a curated collection of books highlighting 2SLGBTQIA+ authors who have disabilities.
