The Campus Collaborative for Student Food Security, a group of staff, faculty and student leaders, will celebrate the official launch of its 2025-26 programming in the Rankin Family Pavilion on Tuesday, Sept. 16. The group runs a variety of Brock Food4U initiatives, such as Community Cook Alongs, throughout the year. The Campus Collaborative for Student Food Security is hosting a launch event for its 2025-26 Brock Food4U programming next week.
Students, faculty and staff can learn more about food security initiatives from campus partners from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 16 in the Rankin Family Pavilion.
The event will also feature a Pay-What-You-Can Pop-Up Produce Market, and students can pick gently used or new items to help them set up their kitchens.
All members of the Brock community are encouraged to contribute by donating gently used or new kitchen items in advance of the event. Donations can be dropped off at the Student Life Involvement Commons in MCA 204 before Sept. 16 or at the Brock Food4U Community Cook Along table in the Rankin Family Pavilion during the launch event.
Vice-Provost, Indigenous Engagement Robyn Bourgeois will host the first Brock Food4U Community Cook Along of the term on Wednesday, Sept. 17. Event details and registration details are available on University Tickets.
“Food insecurity is a complex issue and it affects more students than many people realize,” said Kristen Smith, Brock’s Manager, Off-Campus and Community Experience and Chair of the Campus Collaborative for Student Food Security. “By working together as a community, we can help reduce barriers for students and ensure they have access to the resources they need to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.”
The Campus Collaborative meets monthly to share strategies, develop Brock Food4U programming and raise awareness of food insecurity among students. Members include staff, faculty and student leaders as well as representatives from the Brock University Students’ Union (BUSU) and the Graduate Students’ Association (GSA).
