Goodman School of Business students showcased their entrepreneurial skills and gained insights from accomplished grads during recent experiential learning events.
Held Nov. 20 during Global Entrepreneurship Week, Demo Day gave more than 40 third- and fourth-year students the opportunity to display their entrepreneurial ideas and prototypes to Brock faculty and staff, community partners and the public.
With the option to create their own idea or draw inspiration from community partner Krysta Boyer, 13 groups presented their hard work in the Rankin Family Pavilion as part of the Creativity and the Entrepreneur course taught by Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship Shawna Chen
More than 100 undergraduate students from Chen’s Introduction to Entrepreneurship course also shared their growing business skills during a poster presentation on Nov. 22. Students were given $5 and tasked with generating social, economic and environmental impact with just two weeks for idea creation and 90 minutes to implement their plans.
Earlier in the month, both undergraduate and graduate students learned from the business expertise and experience of Goodman grad Kevin Spratt (BBA ’00) during a Coffee and Conversations event on Nov. 5. The President, U.S.-Canada Region at Rich’s joined current students for a series of roundtable sessions to share his professional insights and career advice.
This was Spratt’s second time on campus for Coffee and Conversations – an event series aimed to connect Goodman grads in senior leadership positions and current students each term.
