The Brock community is stepping up to ensure students have all the resources they need to succeed as exam season gets underway.
From extended library hours to comprehensive learning services and safe transportation options, Brock students have access to a range of a academic and well-being supports.
Brock Learning Services continues to offer robust support throughout the exam period. Students can access a variety of services, including:
- exam-focused workshops
- essay writing workshops
- consultations with Learning Skills Specialists
- one-on-one tutoring
- exam review sessions for Chemistry and Biology
From Monday, Dec. 2 to Friday, Dec. 20, Learning Services is introducing a program to supercharge group study sessions. Student groups of two to six individuals can book a tutor for their on-campus study sessions free of charge by emailing learning@brocku.ca
The Brock University Library is extending its hours at the Matheson Learning Commons, located on the main floor, from Sunday, Nov. 24 to Dec. 18 to accommodate late-night study sessions. Extended hours will run on:
- Sundays from 9 p.m. to 2:30 a.m.
- Mondays through Thursdays from 11 p.m. to 2:30 a.m.
- Friday, Dec. 13 from 11 p.m. to 2:30 a.m.
Additionally, all library floors will remain open until 11 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7 and 14. While core services such as borrowing and research assistance will be unavailable during these late hours, students can enjoy quiet individual study spaces and group study areas on the main floor.
To ensure students can study late without worry, the Brock University Students’ Union (BUSU) is offering a shuttle service from Sunday, Nov. 24 to Thursday, Dec. 19.
Operating Sundays through Thursdays from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m., the service allows students to book a free ride home within the Niagara region via the ZoomZoom app using the code “BADGERS.” Pick-ups are located outside the Rankin Family Pavilion near the library entrance.
Campus Safety Services also provides a Safe Walk service, available by calling (905) 688-5550 x3200, for those accessing campus late at night. Additional safety resources can be found on the Brock Safety app.
The Graduate Students’ Association (GSA) is also contributing to the supportive environment.
Its final event of the term, the Holiday Social, will take place on Thursday, Dec. 12. Students can unwind with ornament painting, a screening of How the Grinch Stole Christmas and free food. Attendees must RSVP on ExperienceBU before Tuesday, Dec. 10.
