The Brock community came together this November to honour the courage and sacrifice of veterans during two significant days of remembrance.

Rob Welch, a member of Brock’s Board of Trustees, lays a wreath at the University’s cenotaph during a Remembrance Day ceremony held on campus Monday, Nov. 11.

The University observed Indigenous Veterans Day on Friday, Nov. 8, encouraging faculty, staff and students to reflect on the contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples to Canada’s war and peacekeeping efforts. The Hadiya’dagénhahs First Nations, Métis and Inuit Student Centre hosted a beaded poppy workshop to mark the day.

On Monday, Nov. 11, the University continued its reflection, paying tribute to the brave men and women who sacrificed for this country during an in-person Remembrance Day ceremony in the Rankin Family Pavillion.

Meaghan Rusnell, Interim Vice-President, External delivered opening remarks for the ceremony, which included the singing of O Canada, a trumpet performance of The Last Post, the reading of the poem In Flanders Fields and the placing of wreaths in front of the Brock cenotaph.  A moment of silence was also held at 11 a.m.
