Brock Sports will induct four athletes and one builder into the Badger Hall of Fame during a March 2025 ceremony.
The Hall of Fame welcomed its first class since 2012 this fall, celebrating 10 new inductees who have made remarkable contributions to the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
“It’s a true privilege to host another Badger Hall of Fame this year,” says Brock Sports and Recreation Executive Director Melissa Kirst. “We’re excited to see this event coincide with the 2025 Wrestling Canada Lutte U SPORTS Invitational Championships, creating a memorable celebration of both the sport and the lasting legacy of the Badgers wrestling program.”
The Hall of Fame ceremony is set to take place on Sunday, March 2 at Amici’s Banquet and Conference Centre. Tickets can be purchased online.
Continuing the celebration of wrestling that weekend, the 2025 Wrestling Canada Lutte U SPORTS Invitational Championships will be held from Friday, Feb. 28 to Saturday, March 1 at Canada Games Park.
“This event promises to be a remarkable occasion where we honour the achievements of our athletes while showcasing the strength and tradition that define the Brock Badgers,” Krist says.
Continuing in the spirit of celebrating Olympic excellence, this class will include five former student-athletes and coaches who have made outstanding contributions to the Olympic Games in the sport of wrestling. They are:
- Colin Daynes (BA ’98) — Atlanta 1996 (Athlete)
- Richard Deschatelets — Sydney 2000 (Builder)
- Michelle Fazzari (posthumously) (BPhEd ’10, BEd ’13) — Rio 2016 (Athlete)
- Evan MacDonald — Athens 2004 (Athlete)
- Tonya Verbeek (BRLS’ 00, BEd’ 03, MEd ’06) — Athens 2004, Beijing 2008, London 2012 (Athlete)
