VPMI showcases industry, researcher collaboration

Government representatives from the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago learned about Brock’s industry-driven research during a recent campus visit.

Minister of Trade and Industry Paula Gopee-Scoon and His Excellency Dennis Moses, High Commissioner for the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago to Canada, toured the Brock-Niagara Validation, Prototyping and Manufacturing Institute (VPMI) on Tuesday, Sept. 24. The innovative institute connects industry partners and with state-of-the-art equipment and the expertise of Brock researchers.

Also joining the tour were representatives from the St. Catharines and Regional Municipality of Niagara Twinning and Mundilization Association, which promotes co-operation at the civic, institutional, organizational and individual citizen level between St. Catharines and Port-of-Spain, the capital of Trinidad and Tobago.

The two communities were officially twinned in 1968. Since then, Brock has developed a strong partnership with the Twinning Association, allowing the University to provide educational opportunities for Trinidadian students and foster cross-cultural exchange on campus.
