A leading international scholar will be on campus this week to share insights into the future of interdisciplinary culture research. National culture is a core variable in international business and a central point of learning in many other disciplines, including the humanities and social and natural sciences.
Distinguished researcher Oded Shenkar, Professor of Management and Human Resources and holder of the Ford Motor Company Chair in Global Business at the Ohio State University’s Fisher College of Business, will kick off the Goodman School of Business’ 2024-25 Luncheon Speaker Series Friday, Sept. 6 to discuss his work on new directions in culture research.
Shenkar is a Fellow and past Vice-President of the Academy of International Business (AIB). He has received the AIB gold medal for scholarly contribution and the Distinguished Scholarly Contribution Award from the International Association of Chinese Management Researchers (IACMR).
He is the author of numerous books and more than 130 journal articles, and his work has been featured by major media outlets, such as The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Economist and CNN. He is active in policy-making, including appearances before the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission of the U.S. Congress, consulting to major corporations, such as Walmart, and serves as an expert witness in major court cases.
The Luncheon Speaker Series provides Goodman faculty, staff and students with an informal opportunity to discuss recent advances in research, teaching and practices with business colleagues. The talk will run from 12:30 to 2 p.m. in Sankey Chamber.
The event is open to everyone, and anyone interested in attending can RSVP to Crystal Li at goodmandean@brocku.ca to reserve a seat.
