Criminal profiling speaker series open to Brock community

Through the month of October, the Forensic Psychology and Criminal Justice (FPAC) program will welcome several top experts in the field to deliver talks about criminal profiling.

The virtual speaker series runs from 4 to 5 p.m. each Tuesday until the end of the month with the exception of reading week, and features experts sharing research on topics related to criminal profiling.

The series kicks off Tuesday, Oct. 1 with Professor Michael Arntfield of Western University sharing his work examining how big data and artificial intelligence are being used in cold case and serial murder investigations during the talk, Serial Murder and Artificial Intelligence.

On Tuesday, Oct. 8, Professor Kim Rossmo of Texas State University will speak on Geographic Profiling, an investigative process that analyzes an offender’s hunting behaviour and target selection and uses the locations of a connected series of crimes to determine the most probable area where an offender lives.

The series concludes on Tuesday, Oct. 22 with Professor Craig Bennell of Carleton University will look at the analysis of crime scene behaviours to determine whether the same offender is responsible for a series of crimes during a talk titled Behavioural Crime Linkage Analysis: From Research to Practice.

All events will take place via Zoom and are open to the Brock community. For more information, please contact the FPAC program.
