Longtime Brock booster and past Chair of the Board of Trustees H.-Rudi Kroeker has died at the age of 70.
Kroeker served 13 years on the University’s Board of Trustees from 2001 to 2014, including three years as Board Chair.
In 2014, Kroeker and his wife Yvette gave a $1-million gift to the University in support of the Roy and Lois Cairns Health and Bioscience Research Complex. In recognition of their generosity and service to Brock, the building’s atrium was named the H.-Rudi Kroeker Family Atrium.
A successful businessman, Kroeker led a number of companies, including the Welland-based Whiting Equipment Canada Inc. and Handling Specialty in Grimsby.
“The entire Brock community is saddened at the loss of one of our most dedicated and passionate supporters,” says Lesley Rigg, President and Vice-Chancellor. “Rudi and his family gave so much to this institution and have had a tremendous impact on generations of Brock students and researchers. For that we’ll forever be grateful.”
A memorial service for Kroeker will be held in Brock University’s Sean O’Sullivan Theatre on Saturday, Aug. 10 at 2 p.m. Additional details are available on the Pleasantview Funeral Home website. Complimentary parking will be available on campus Saturday.
Brock University will lower its flags in Koeker’s honour on the day of the service.
