New faculty drop-in session to highlight research, teaching supports

Brock’s Office of Research Services (ORS) and Centre for Pedagogical Innovation (CPI) are hosting a drop-in session to help new faculty members learn about policies, procedures and other research and teaching activities.

The event takes place on Tuesday, June 25 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. in RFP 216 in the Rankin Family Pavilion. No registration is required to attend.

“We welcome questions about inclusive course design, assessment, instructional strategies, preparing teaching dossiers and generally letting new faculty know about resources and people available to support them,” says Giulia Forsythe, Director of Teaching and Learning at CPI.

Jayne Morrish, Research Impact Manager in ORS, says the informal session, which has no specific agenda or presentations, “is a great opportunity for new faculty to meet others and establish connections.”

Other potential topics to be explored include the different types of funding opportunities available for research; how to apply for grants and manage awarded funds effectively; the use of Brightspace; and various resources and experts that can support research and teaching efforts.
