Asbestos reassessment to take place throughout June

Brock University is set to complete its annual asbestos reassessment this month.

Annual reassessments assist Brock in keeping its asbestos management program up to date and is a requirement of Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act .

Brock’s Health, Safety and Wellness team, accompanied by Consultants from Pinchin Ltd., will be conducting a room-by-room visual inspection of all previously identified asbestos materials at the University’s St. Catharines campus from Tuesday, June 11 to Thursday, June 27.

The inspection team will take proper precautions and controls in accordance with applicable legislation to eliminate any risk of exposure. In rare instances, they will also collect samples.

Reassessments exclude the Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts as all asbestos was abated during building renovations.

Questions about the annual asbestos reassessment, including considerations regarding equipment, materials, access or special arrangements, can be emailed to the Health, Safety and Wellness team at besafe@brocku.ca

More information about the University’s asbestos management program is available in the Environmental Safety section of the Health, Safety and Wellness Toolbox on SharePoint.
