Brock Employee Wellness Day registration begins May 30

From playing a coed game of pickup ice hockey to relaxing in nature, there are a variety of options for Brock employees to explore during the University’s upcoming Wellness Day.

Brock’s 22nd annual Employee Wellness Day will take place on Tuesday, June 25 with activities on campus and off site in Niagara.

The full-day event has expanded this year to include a local vendor market from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Goodman Atrium.

Registration for the popular event opens Thursday, May 30 at 9 a.m. and runs until 4 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5.

Employees should discuss their participation with their supervisor before registering.

Registration will take place using Pheedloop and will require employees to create a profile using their Brock email address. Participants may want to create their profile in advance as sessions have filled up quickly in the past.

The event kicks off in the Rankin Family Pavilion Atrium and will include opportunities to hear from engaging speakers and connect with colleagues.

With more than 90 sessions planned, the schedule features the return of past favourites such as yoga, art classes and recreational sports, along with new additions including trips to The Watering Can, Mingle Hill Farm and Marketplace, and the Niagara Butterfly Conservatory.

Speakers from the Brock community will also share their expertise throughout the day, including interactive sessions in the Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture Institute and educational tours of Brock’s underground tunnels and residences.

Drop-in events have been planned for those who cannot commit to a session.

A complimentary lunch will be provided to individuals who register for two or more events. Employees who want to purchase a lunch and are not already receiving one can do so for $18.65.

Tickets for this year’s raffle sale, which raises funds for student awards, can be purchased from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in RFP 214 and RFP 215 from Friday, June 21 to Tuesday, June 25. Tickets are 25 for $15 or 50 for $25 and purchases can only be made in cash.

Individuals may also choose to spend a half day volunteering with a non-profit organization, which requires a letter issued by Health Management and Wellness to proceed. Employees are responsible for their own transportation to their volunteering opportunity.

Wellness Day volunteers are also needed to support various sporting events and assist speakers and guests getting to their classrooms, among other roles.

Donations are still being accepted for the popular raffle sale. To make a raffle donation, become vendor or volunteer, email wellnessday@brocku.ca
