Annual Sankey Lecture to discuss cultural perspectives of Freemasonry

The Brock and Niagara communities are invited to the 15th annual Charles A. Sankey Lecture in Masonic Studies hosted by the Department of History this weekend.

During the event, guest lecturer Cécile Révauger, Professor Emerita of English at the Université Bordeaux Montaigne in France, will discuss the role of Freemasonry in conveying the cultural, political, and religious values of the Enlightenment in Europe, the American colonies and the emerging United States.

The free lecture will take place on Sunday, April 14 at 3 p.m. in Sean O’Sullivan Theatre with a reception to follow. Registration is encouraged through University Tickets.

For those unable to attend in person, the lecture will be livestreamed on YouTube.

The Sankey Lectures series is named in honour of Brock’s second Chancellor and renowned Masonic scholar, Charles A. Sankey. It is a collaboration between the University and the Grand Lodge of Canada in the Province of Ontario.
