The Brock University community is mourning the death of third-year Concurrent Teacher Education student Sean Cowieson, who passed away on Saturday, March 2.

Known as a positive, empathetic and kind leader of youth, Cowieson is remembered for his love of music, sports, games and movies.

Faculty of Education Interim Dean Mary-Louise Vanderlee expressed her condolences.

“Our thoughts are with Sean’s family and friends, and we hope his positive and giving spirit brings some comfort to all who are grieving,” she said.

A funeral service was held in Ottawa on Monday, March 11 and the University’s flags were also lowered to half mast on that day in Cowieson’s honour.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Tim Hortons Foundation Camps or Pflag Canada would be appreciated by the Cowieson family.
