Applications open for annual 72-Hour Film Festival

Brock student filmmakers will have three days to write, shoot and edit a cinematic masterpiece for this year’s 72-Hour Film Festival, hosted by the Department of Communication, Popular Culture and Film’s Student Society (CPCFSS).

Working in crews of two to five people, students who register will receive instructions —  along with themes, prompts and challenges for items to include such as props or lines of dialogue — on the morning of Thursday, March 14. Completed short films must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, March 17 to be considered in the festival.

All competing films will be screened during a gala event at the First Ontario Performing Arts Centre on Tuesday, March 19 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 for general admission and $8 for Film House members.

Awards for first and second place, best line delivery and best use of a prop, as well as an Audience Choice Award, will be presented following the screenings. BrockTV and Fourgrounds Media Inc. are among the co-sponsors of these awards.

Any Brock students who wish to register to take part can contact festival organizer Mackenzie Typer-Case no later than noon on Wednesday, March 13.
