An international supply chain expert will discuss effective strategies to maintain safe stock levels, which can save businesses from high-cost inventory storage and service failures, at the next Goodman School of Business Luncheon Speaker Series event on Friday, Feb. 16.
John Saldanha, Professor of Supply Chain Management at West Virginia University’s John Chambers College of Business and Economics, will explore maintaining safe stock levels for input components that are used in multiple final products. His talk will focus on the implementation and effectiveness of an alternative estimating approach based on the bootstrap method.
As Sears Chair in Global Supply Chain Management and Faculty Director of Wehrle Global Supply Chain Lab, Saldanha’s research examines global supply chains, with a particular interest in the distribution and informational systems that can improve logistical and other management processes. His work has led him to recognize the importance of the human element in supply chains, which is now an important component of his research.
Serving on the Editorial Review Board for the Journal of Business Logistics, Saldanha’s research have been published globally in leading academic journals including the International Journal of Logistics Management, Transportation Research Part E, and the Journal of Supply Chain Management.
The Luncheon Speaker Series provides Goodman faculty, staff and students with an informal opportunity to discuss recent advances in research, teaching and practices with business colleagues. The talk will run from 12:30 to 2 p.m. in Sankey Chamber.
The event is open to everyone, and anyone interested in attending can RSVP to Jennifer Smith at jsmith2@brocku.ca to reserve a seat.
