The following is a list of thesis defences taking place between Monday, Jan. 8 and Friday, Jan. 12.

Master of Science in Biological Sciences thesis defence

Lauren V. R. Nesbitt, a Master of Science in Biological Sciences candidate, will defend the thesis “Uncovering millennia of wildfire occurrence during the Holocene at local and regional scales in the Northwest Territories, Canada” on Monday, Jan. 8 at 11 a.m. in virtual format.

Master of Science in Biotechnology thesis defence

Amanda Williams, a Master of Science in Biotechnology candidate, will defend the thesis “The Susceptibility of Medically Important Mosquito Species to Insect-Specific Virus Infection” on Monday, Jan. 8 at noon in PLZ 600F.

The examination committee includes Ping Liang, Chair; Fiona Hunter, Supervisor; Constância Ayres, External Examiner (Instituto Aggeu Magalhães); and Ian Patterson and Adam Macneil, Committee Members.

Master of Science in Applied Health Sciences (Health Sciences) thesis defence

Naomi Vos, a Master of Science in Applied Health Sciences candidate, will defend the thesis “Arterial Baroreflex Regulation of Sympathetic Discharge During Maximal Voluntary End-Inspiratory Apnea” on Wednesday, Jan. 10 from 9 a.m. to noon in WC 204.

The examination committee includes, Sean Locke, Chair; Stephen Klassen, Supervisor; Sarah Baker, External Examiner (Mayo Clinic); and Deb O’Leary and Stephen Cheung, Committee Members.

Master of Arts in Child and Youth Studies thesis defence

Sarah Epp, a Master of Arts in Child and Youth Studies candidate, will defend the thesis “Moving forward: Perspectives of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities regarding the effectiveness of Individual Support Plans” on Friday, Jan. 12 from 1 to 3 p.m. in virtual format.
