Event to connect students, staff with volunteer opportunities

Charities and public organizations from across Niagara will be on campus this week to share volunteer opportunities with the Brock community.

Students and employees are invited to drop into the Brock Cares Volunteer Fair at Market Hall Thursday, Sept. 14 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to learn more about ways to get involved in the local community.

The event will host 20 community and campus partners, including Alzheimer Society Niagara Region, Education Foundation of Niagara, Learning Disabilities Association of Niagara Region, Niagara Parks and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Niagara.

Giving back through volunteering benefits community members, local organizations and volunteers alike says Kristen Smith, Manager, Off-Campus and Community Experience.

“Making time to volunteer is a great approach to having a well-rounded and healthy student experience,” she said. “We’re grateful to our community partners for the learning environments they provide for our students volunteers.”

Students interested in connecting with other community-minded students and learning more about unique volunteer opportunities can also join the Brock University Volunteer Association.
