Brock University will soon complete its annual asbestos reassessment.
Reassessments are a requirement of Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act and help to ensure Brock’s asbestos inventory is accurate and up to date.
From Tuesday, Aug. 15 to Thursday, Aug. 31, contractors from Pinchin Ltd. will join Brock’s Health, Safety and Wellness team to conduct a room-by-room visual inspection of previously identified asbestos materials at Brock’s St. Catharines campus.
The inspection team will be taking proper precautions and controls in accordance with applicable legislation to eliminate any risk of exposure, and in rare instances, they will also be collecting small bulk samples.
The Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts is excluded from the reassessment, as all confirmed asbestos was abated during the renovations to the building.
Questions about the annual asbestos reassessment, including considerations regarding equipment, materials, access or special arrangements, can be emailed to the Health, Safety and Wellness team at besafe@brocku.ca
