Parking changes coming this fall

Brock Parking Services is rolling out several changes over the coming months to enhance the customer experience.

“We have been working on a number of projects and are excited to finally share them with the Brock community,” said Jen Lawson, Director, Retail and Parking Services.

The most notable change will come with the implementation of Licence Plate Recognition (LPR) technology, which uses a vehicle’s licence plate as the parking permit, eliminating the need for paper permits or hangtags.

LPR will be implemented with the sale of 2023-24 parking permits beginning July 11 for faculty and staff and July 25 for students.

Wayfinding signage and changes to some lots will accompany LPR, making it easier to identify paid and permitted spaces. As of September, Zone 1, 2, 3 and 4 will be known as Lot 1, 2, 3 and 4.

This fall will also see the launch of a new shared Parking Services and Campus Safety Services desk in the Rankin Family Pavilion. Customers will be able to visit the desk for in-person support, including the purchase of paid parking though HONK.

Finally, a refresh to the Parking Services website will offer updated information about parking options on campus, requests for event parking, rules and regulations and “how-to videos” for HONK users wanting to pay for parking or purchase monthly and flex passes.

These changes were informed in part by a survey conducted by Parking Services in April. More than 2,400 customers responded.

“With a number of initiatives underway, the results of the survey helped reinforce the opportunities we have to educate and support our customers,” said Lawson.
