Conversations, cultural crafts at heart of Indigenous youth circle Thursday

An upcoming event aims to inspire conversation in a safe and welcoming space for Indigenous youth.

Hosted by Hadiya’dagénhahs First Nation, Métis and Inuit Student Centre on Thursday, July 27, the Youth Circle is free and open to students from Brock University and Niagara College, as well as community members between the ages of 14 and 25.

During the event, which runs from 6 to 8 p.m. in Alphie’s Trough at Brock University, participants will gather with Hadiya’dagénhahs peer assistants to colour traditional Indigenous artwork and make bookmarks while joining in conversation.

The circle was created to provide a safe place for Indigenous youth to discuss anything they wish with others of a similar age and cultural experience.

Additional youth circle gatherings are also being planned for the coming months.
