President names new Executive Director of Strategic Initiatives

Vanessa Dupuis has been named Executive Director, Strategic Initiatives in the Office of the President.

Dupuis has been at Brock since 2021 and is currently the Executive Director of Strategic Operations in the Office of the Vice-President, Administration.

An experienced leader, she comes to the role with a strong background managing cross-functional special projects, strategic plans and other complex issues.

Prior to joining Brock, Dupuis served as Senior Manager, Government Relations with Loblaw Companies Limited, and held a number of progressively senior roles with the Office of the Auditor General of Ontario, including three years as Strategic and Operations Advisor to the Auditor General.

“Vanessa has shown great leadership and ability during her time at Brock and brings a wealth of experience in both the private and public sectors to this important new role,” says Lesley Rigg, President and Vice-Chancellor. “I’m thrilled to have her join the Office of the President team.”

The Executive Director, Strategic Initiatives position was created to provide strategic oversight, leadership and direction in the Office of the President and supports its efforts to continue to advance the University’s priorities.

Dupuis holds a Master of Arts degree in Public Policy and Administration from the University of Guelph/McMaster University collaborative, and a Master of Laws from the University of Toronto.

Daniel Grubb, previously seconded from Government, Community and International Relations, who had been serving as Interim Executive Director of Strategic Initiatives, has been appointed Director of Government Relations.

“I want to thank Daniel for his excellent work during his time in this interim role — his leadership and guidance were invaluable during my first months as President,” says Rigg. “I look forward to continuing to work with him in his new role leading the Government Relations team.”

Dupuis’s appointment will be effective July 1.
