Brian Power has been reappointed as Brock’s Vice-Provost and Associate Vice-President, Academic for a second five-year term beginning July 1.

Power was Associate Dean of the Faculty of Humanities for six years before taking on his current leadership role in July 2018. A scholar in early music, and former Chair of Brock’s Department of Music, he is also an accomplished choral and solo tenor, as well as a violinist.

During his first term as Vice-Provost and Associate Vice-President, Academic, Power and his team:

  • successfully managed Brock’s cyclical audit by the Ontario Universities Council on Quality Assurance.

“I am humbled by the University’s confidence in me to continue in the role of Vice-Provost and Associate Vice-President Academic, and am excited to embark on my second term,” Power says. “With the plethora of changes facing the academic landscape in the coming years, I see the ever-present need to respond with the renewal and invigoration of Brock’s academic policies, procedures and programming, and I hope to play a consistent part in advancing these goals over the next five years.”

The Vice-Provost and Associate Vice-President, Academic focuses primarily on academic program quality assurance, faculty relations and external reviews of administrative units that support the academic mission. As a member of Brock’s senior academic administration, the position provides vision, leadership and support to the University in all aspects of Brock’s Internal Quality Assurance Process, serving as the University’s key contact for Academic Quality Assurance.
