Library’s popular reading collection launched with lunchtime snacks

The Brock University Library is launching its new popular reading collection next week with a fun and creative way to sample books in time for Reading Week.

‘Badger Books’ is a collection of bestselling fiction, crafting how-tos and health and wellness titles. From Monday, Feb. 13 to Friday, Feb. 17, members of the Brock community can sample a Badger Book by participating in the ‘Lunchable Books’ initiative.

Patrons can visit the Ask Us Desk on the main floor of the Library to borrow a package containing everything one would need for a lunch date with a surprise book. Packed in each brown paper lunch bag is a novel, a lunchtime snack and surprise goodies provided by the Brock University Students’ Union.

Badger Books is the Library’s most recent effort to engage with readers and support the wellness of the Brock community. The program is supported by Evelyn Smith, Engagement Assistant, and Charity Blaine, Library Assistant.

Blaine said selecting books for the Badger Books collection has been a labour of love.

“We spent a lot of time researching what books are trending right now, and tried to include a diversity of voices, perspectives and genres so that everyone can find a good book to enjoy,” she said.

Badger Books can be borrowed for up to four weeks, including the books that are part of the Lunchable Books initiative.

More than 350 titles included in the Badger Books collection can be found on Omni, the Library’s academic search tool.

Visit the Brock Library website to learn how students, employees, alumni and community members can borrow from the Brock Library.
