Brock community’s energy ‘radiates from every corner,’ says President

In her four months since taking the helm as Brock’s seventh President and Vice-Chancellor, Lesley Rigg has noticed three key words often used to describe the University: community, passion and experience.

Those terms have been frequently heard during her conversations with students, staff, faculty, alumni and community members — and time on campus has shown her why.

“There’s an energy and an enthusiasm on this campus — not just in the students, but also in the faculty and staff,” Rigg said during an event held Monday in the Rankin Family Pavilion. “It literally radiates from every corner.”

About 200 members of the Brock community attended the Feb. 6 event, which saw Rigg touch on her first few months in the role, share insight into her transformational journey into academia and sit down with Vice-President, Research Tim Kenyon for a brief Q&A session. Following the formal portion of the event, which was also livestreamed, Rigg took time to meet with individuals in attendance.

During her remarks, the President touched on both challenges and opportunities ahead for the University, the institution’s vision for the future and the significant impact Brock has locally and globally through its research and academic contributions.

Rigg also emphasized the important role each member of the Brock community plays in the University’s overall success.
