Brock employees interested in enhancing their leadership skills are invited to apply for the University’s employee leadership development programs.
Faculty and staff can choose from one of three programs available in 2023: Crucial Conversations, Leading at Brock and Emerging Leaders.
Crucial Conversations is an eight-hour, self-directed asynchronous online program that discusses strategies, theories and tools to turn a disagreement or difficult conversation into positive and constructive dialogue.
Leading at Brock is designed for current managers and people leaders seeking to strengthen their leadership skills and increase their knowledge of core topics related to management at Brock. Examples of workshop topics include leading teams, managing in a unionized environment, health and safety, coaching and effective performance management, strategic thinking, budget and financial management, equity and inclusion in leadership, and change management. Participants can be new or seasoned leaders.
Emerging Leaders is for employees in non-management positions who wish to take on greater leadership roles within their current sphere of influence and scope of duties, while building skills needed to advance their career. Examples of workshop topics include project management, influencing without authority and change management.
Both the Leading at Brock and Emerging Leaders programs will take place synchronously online from March to December for approximately seven hours per month. Participants must attend all sessions to obtain a certificate of completion.
All programs are free to Brock faculty and staff through the University’s learning and development initiatives. Interested employees are asked to apply online by Friday, Feb. 10. More information, including details about each program and frequently asked questions, is available on SharePoint.
