Tickets on sale for United Way trivia night

Random knowledge about pop culture, sports and history is sure to come in handy at Brock University’s 11th annual Trivia Night for United Way.

After a two-year hiatus, the event returns to Club Roma Wednesday, Dec. 7 from 6 to 10 p.m. and will feature a family-style Italian dinner of pasta, meatballs and salad, followed by 10 rounds of trivia. Vegetarian and vegan meal options are available upon request.

The event is organized by Brock’s United Way Committee and is open to Brock employees, students, alumni, retirees and their guests.

Tickets are $30 each and can be purchased on University Tickets until Friday, Nov. 25 at 4 p.m. Team registration in groups of eight is recommended; however, individual registration is also accepted.

In addition to trivia, the evening will also feature a gift basket raffle and dessert by donation.

Brock’s United Way Committee Faculty Co-Chair Colleen Whyte (BLRS ’97) is excited to bring back the signature event in time for the holiday season.

“Trivia Night is a fun way to get together in person with colleagues, friends and family, while also supporting a local charity and the hundreds of vital programs it funds,” said Whyte, Associate Professor with Recreation and Leisure Studies.

Proceeds from the event will go towards Brock’s workplace giving campaign for United Way, which has already reached 60 per cent of its $160,000 goal thanks to the generosity of employees.

“I’m delighted the Brock community has rallied together in support of the 123,000 people who use United Way-funded programs annually,” said Whyte. “During this season of giving, I implore my colleagues to support United Way by participating in Trivia Night and by making a personal donation. No gift is too small — with thousands of employees at Brock, it all adds up to large impact in our local community.”

Whyte emphasized that employees donating to United Way through Brock’s campaign can designate their contribution to any registered Canadian charity, United Way in Canada or specific priority area, for example, children and youth.

Employees and departments can also support Brock’s United Way campaign by donating a themed gift basket to the Trivia Night raffle.
