Thesis defences Oct. 17 to Oct. 21

The following is a list of thesis defences taking place between Monday, Oct. 17 and Friday, Oct. 21.

Master of Science in Physics thesis defence 

Mohammad Ahmadi, a Master of Science in Physics candidate, will defend the thesis “Low-dimensional purple and blue bronzes: Crystal growth, characterization and optical properties” on Tuesday, Oct. 18, at 2 p.m. in WH 147 in hybrid format.

Master of Science in Chemistry thesis defences 

Jared Thomson, a Master of Science in Chemistry candidate, will defend the thesis “Semi-synthesis of Unnatural Narciclasine Derivatives” on Wednesday, Oct. 19 at 12:30 p.m. in virtual format.

The examination committee includes Cheryl McCormick, Chair; Costa Metallinos, Interim Supervisor; Dennis L. Wright, External Examiner (University of Connecticut); and Hongbin (Tony) Yan and Georgii Nikonov, Committee Members.

Sean Wilson, a Master of Science in Chemistry candidate, will defend the thesis “Synthesis of a Photocleavable Bolalipid for the study of the roles of Phospholipid Transfer Proteins and Phosphatidylinositol Lipid Kinases” on Thursday, Oct. 20 at 11:30 a.m. in virtual format.

Master of Science in Management (Marketing Stream) thesis defence

Adel Hadjiesmaeli, a Master of Science in Management candidate, will defend the thesis “Investigating a Moderated Mediation Model of the Impact of Personalized Message Appeal and Privacy Threat Extent on Consumer Behaviour” on Thursday, Oct. 20 at 8:45 a.m. in virtual format.

Elvia Lopez Nava, a Master of Arts in Social Justice and Equity Studies candidate, will defend the thesis “Deadly Wounds in the US-Mexico Borderlands: A Rhetorical Analysis of the Anti-Illegal-Immigration News Media Coverage of the El Paso Shooting and the Viral Video of the United Constitutional Patriots” on Thursday, Oct. 20 at 9 a.m. in virtual format.
