Interim Dean appointed in Faculty of Education 

Following consultation with faculty members and the University Senate, Interim President and Provost and Vice-President, Academic Lynn Wells has appointed Mary-Louise Vanderlee Interim Dean of the Faculty of Education, effective Jan. 1, 2023.  

Vanderlee will succeed Michael Owen, who has served as Dean since August 2017. Under thePolicy on the Appointment of Academic Administrators, Vanderlee will serve a term of up to two years while the search for a Dean is completed. 

Vanderlee is currently Associate Dean of Professional and Undergraduate Studies and has extensive experience supporting student success and collaborating with partners across campus. She previously served as Chair of the Department of Graduate and Undergraduate Studies and Chair of the Department of Educational Studies.  

Her research expertise focuses on various aspects of early childhood education as well as the indicators of health and well-being for children and their families.  

Details on the search for a permanent Dean of Education will be posted on the Provost’s website when available.
