Volunteers needed for Fall, legacy Convocation ceremonies

With students and alumni set to cross the stage at Brock’s Fall and legacy Convocation ceremonies next month, volunteers are needed to help proceedings run smoothly.

Alumni who graduated during the pandemic but did not have an opportunity to participate in an on-campus celebration will be welcomed back to the University during legacy Convocation ceremonies Wednesday, Oct. 12 and Thursday, Oct. 13. The legacy celebrations will be followed by Brock’s 112th Convocation on Friday, Oct. 14.

Throughout the three days, students have the opportunity to volunteer as greeters in the Walker Sports Complex, helping to direct guests towards Ian D. Beddis Gymnasium and assisting guests with general questions.

Staff volunteers can contribute by assisting at the registration table, reading out graduates’ names as an orator during ceremonies, delivering regalia in the gowning room, helping guests with directions, and setting up in and welcoming visitors to Alumni Alley.

Applicants can select the dates and times they are available to volunteer. Staff must receive permission from their manager or supervisor if the times conflict with their regular work hours.

A full description of each volunteer role and sign-up information can be found on the University’s Convocation website.
