The Schmon Tower’s familiar red glow will give way to an array of colour schemes to mark several occasions taking place in September.
Events in September include:
- Thursday, Sept. 1, gold for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month
- Saturday, Sept. 3, blue for Prostate Cancer Awareness Month
- Friday, Sept. 9, red for International Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders Awareness Day
- Saturday, Sept. 10, orange and yellow for World Suicide Prevention Day
- Thursday, Sept. 15, purple for World Lymphoma Awareness Day
- Wednesday, Sept. 21, blue for World Alzheimer Awareness Day
- Saturday, Sept. 24, green for World Mitochondrial Disease Week
- Sunday, Sept. 25, purple for Chiari Malformation Awareness Month
- Wednesday, Sept. 28, blue, red and white for National British Home Child Day
- Friday, Sept. 30, orange for National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
The tower is lit externally with 48 powerful LED lights, which offer a full rainbow of colour options.
Members of the community can request the tower be illuminated in a particular colour for holidays and non-commercial special events.
