Thesis defences May 30 to June 3

The following is a list of thesis defences taking place between Monday, May 30 and Friday, June 3.

Master of Social Justice and Equity Studies thesis defence

Zabrina Downton, a Master of Social Justice and Equity Studies candidate, will defend the thesis “Representing Recovery: A Discourse Analysis of the Television Shows You, AJ and the Queen, and Mom” on Wednesday, June 1 at 1 p.m. in virtual format.

The examination committee includes Dawn Zinga, Chair; Robyn Bourgeois, Supervisor; Sarah Matheson, External Examiner (Associate Professor and Chair, Department of Communication, Popular Culture and Film, Brock University); Trent Newmeyer, Graduate Program Director; and Liz Clarke, Committee Member.

PhD in Interdisciplinary Humanities thesis defence

Andrew McEwan, a PhD in Interdisciplinary Humanities candidate, will defend the thesis “Mad Futures Now: Avant-garde Dishumanism in the Poetry of Claude Gauvreau, Hannah Weiner, and Bill Bissett” on Thursday, June 2 from 2 to 5 p.m. The in-person defence will take place in PLZ 600F.

The examination committee members are Brian Roy, Chair; Gregory Betts, Supervisor; Elizabeth Donaldson, External Examiner (New York Institute of Technology); David Vivian, Internal Examiner; and Maureen Connolly and David Fancy, Advisory Committee.
