Here’s a look at some of the media attention Brock University received recently.

As single-sports betting arrives in Ontario, experts warn of pitfalls to avoid: Assistant Professor of Sport Management Michael Naraine spoke about the potential risks that could come with taking part in legalized sports gambling in a Canadian Press article that appeared on Global News and more than 100 other news outlets across the country. Naraine also spoke to The Toronto Star about the financial costs and benefits that come with owning a junior hockey franchise.

Seed library starts first chapter at Brock University: Master of Sustainability student Alexandra Cotrufo spoke to Newstalk 610 CKTB about the opening of a seed library at Brock University, which offers free seeds to Niagara gardeners. Andrew Colgoni, Associate University Librarian, Student Success, also discussed the seed library in an article from The St. Catharines Standard.

Changes coming to the service industry: Brock University Professor of Business Ethics Paul Dunn spoke to Newstalk 610 CKTB about changes taking place in the service industry that could see customers charged if they booked a reservation at a restaurant but did not arrive at the confirmed time to claim their table.

Are we living in the Anthropocene? This Ontario lake could help global geologists decide: A Narwal article quoted Professor of Earth Sciences Francine McCarthy, who spoke about research she is conducting that examines sediment beneath Crawford Lake.

New book discusses safe sport in Canada: Associate Professor of Sport Management and Director of the Centre for Sport Capacity Julie Stevens spoke to CHML 900 about an open-access digital book she edited about the past, present and future of the safe sport movement in Canada. Stevens will also discuss the book on Saturday, April 23 when she appears on Newstalk 610 CKTB’s The Weekend Edition.
