Reminder: Upcoming faculty workshop to focus on writing for The Conversation

Rural communities exhibiting resilience in the face of COVID-19. Artificial intelligence driving plagiarism. Holiday buying fuelling climate change. Classical music contending with a colonial past and present.

These are some of the articles from Brock researchers appearing recently in The Conversation Canada, a daily independent online publication that delivers analysis and explanatory journalism from the academic and research community directly to the public.

To encourage more Brock faculty to write for The Conversation, University Marketing and Communications and the Office of Research Services are hosting a workshop on Wednesday, March 2. The session will run from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Microsoft Teams.

The workshop will feature The Conversation‘s Editor-in-Chief Scott White, who will explain the mission of The Conversation Canada, offer some background on how it helps academics with knowledge mobilization and give some tips on how to pitch a great story idea.

This is an interactive workshop where participants are encouraged to bring story ideas to discuss.

Brock University is a partner in The Conversation, a not-for-profit collaboration where professional editors work directly with academics and researchers to publish articles for a wide audience. The Conversation provides content to a wide range of media outlets for no charge.

Ever since Brock joined The Conversation Canada five years ago, more than 81 faculty members have published 222 articles garnering more than 3.1 million reads.
