Thesis defences Jan. 24 to Jan. 28

The following is a list of thesis defences taking place between Monday, Jan. 24 and Friday, Jan. 28.

PhD in Child and Youth Studies thesis defence

Nabin Maharjan, a PhD in Child and Youth Studies candidate, will defend the thesis “Understanding Nepali Youth’s Community Participation in the Post-Disaster Context” on Monday, Jan. 24 from 1 to 4 p.m. in virtual format.

Master of Science in Earth Sciences thesis defence

Brendan Llew-Williams, a Master of Science in Earth Sciences candidate, will defend the thesis “The hydrological and limnological characterization of two Canadian water catchments sensitive to anthropogenic influences: Crawford Lake, Ontario and Old Crow Flats, Yukon” on Tuesday, Jan. 25 at 9:30 a.m. in virtual format.

The examination committee includes Cheryl McCormick, Chair; Martin J. Head, Supervisor; Abigail Burt, External Examiner (Ontario Geological Survey); and Francine McCarthy and Kevin Turner, Committee Members.

Master of Science in Management (Operations and Information Systems Management) thesis defence 

Yihang Liang, a Master of Science in Management candidate, will defend the thesis “Implications of Non-Operating Room Anesthesia Policy for Operating Room Efficiency” on Tuesday, Jan. 25 at noon in virtual format.

The examination committee includes Tomson Ogwang, Chair; Amir Rastpour, External Examiner (Ontario Tech University); Reena Yoogalingam, Supervisor; and Anteneh Ayanso and Martin Kusy, Committee Members.

 Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics thesis defence

Osama Chattha, a Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics candidate, will defend the thesis “Examining the Morphological Decomposition of Complex Words in Native and Non-Native Speakers of English” on Friday, Jan. 28 at 1 p.m. in virtual format.
