Brock putting student success front and centre this Giving Tuesday

The holidays are here and so too is the season of giving.

Brock University will once again join thousands of non-profit and charitable organizations in celebrating Giving Tuesday, a global philanthropic movement that encourages donations and volunteerism to causes closest to people’s hearts.

At Brock, this cause is student success.

Giving Tuesday at Brock is about uniting as a community to support what matters most — our students,” says Sonia Dupte, Brock’s Director of Development. “The Brock community has a wonderful culture of philanthropy — our faculty and staff care deeply for our students and want to see them succeed.”

Traditionally, Giving Tuesday falls on the Tuesday after Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping deals. This year, it will take place Tuesday, Nov. 30.

To help promote the initiative, Brock is encouraging its current supporters to share information about Giving Tuesday at Brock through social media and word of mouth. An online ambassador tool kit includes sample images and social media messaging faculty and staff can share with their personal and professional networks.

“Current donors are already familiar with the significant impacts their gifts have on empowering students and making a transformational education experience possible,” says Dupte. “This Giving Tuesday, we’re asking them to continue their support of Brock students by making a donation and helping us inspire others to give by sharing campaign messaging.”

Dupte says donations made in support of Giving Tuesday at Brock are investments in education that will help Brock students become “resilient, versatile, career-ready and engaged citizens who are ready to change the world.”

She is hopeful the Brock community will rally together to support funds that have a direct and positive impact on the lives of students.

“Whether you support scholarships or bursaries, facilities or spaces, academic programs, student services, athletics or research, your gift enhances student success at Brock,” she says.
