Brock-wide teaching award nominations due Nov. 8

The time to celebrate teaching excellence at Brock University is quickly approaching, and so too is the deadline for nominations.

Application packages for this year’s Brock-wide teaching awards must be submitted digitally to the Centre for Pedagogical Innovation (CPI) by Monday, Nov. 8.

The awards, which honour excellence in teaching for early career faculty, sessional teaching and teaching large classes, are presented to instructors and faculty members who have made significant contributions to the teaching and learning environment at the University.

Madelyn Law, Brock’s Associate Vice-Provost, Teaching and Learning, said the past year has seen instructors deliver top-notch teaching in conditions they may not have anticipated.

“It’s always important to celebrate the excellent teaching taking place here at Brock, but this year has been a particularly remarkable one,” she said. “As the world of teaching and learning changed around them during the COVID-19 pandemic, Brock’s instructors embraced the opportunity to continue putting their students first while developing new and innovative teaching methods that communicated topics and theories in ways not previously explored.”

All application packages will be adjudicated by a selection committee consisting of cross-Faculty representation, including students, faculty/instructors and administrators. Recipients will then be recognized at CPI’s annual Tribute to Teaching event in December.

Anyone who wishes to learn more about the awards or to discuss their application package is invited to visit the CPI website or contact a member of the Educational Development team at eddev@brocku.ca or x5329.
