The following is a list of thesis defences taking place from Monday, Sept. 27 to Friday, Oct. 1.

Master of Science in Computer Science thesis defences

Cody Dennis, a Master of Science candidate in Computer Science, will defend his thesis “Landscape Aware Algorithm Configuration” on Tuesday, Sept. 28 at 11 a.m. in virtual format.

The examination committee includes Cheryl McCormick, Chair; Beatrice Ombuki-Berman, Supervisor; Yifeng Li, External Examiner (Brock University); and Brian J. Ross and Kyle Harrison, Committee Members.

Umme Salma, a Master of Science candidate in the Department of Computer Science, will defend her thesis “Evolving Passive Solar Buildings Using Multi-Behavioral Diversity Search Strategies ” on Tuesday, Sept. 28 at 3 p.m. in virtual format.

The examination committee includes Cheryl McCormick, Chair; Brian J. Ross, Supervisor; Robson De Grande, External Examiner (Brock University); and Sheridan Houghten and Renata Queiroz Dividino, Committee Members.

Master of Sustainability thesis defence

Brooke Kapeller, a Master of Sustainability candidate, will defend her thesis “Exploring Environmental Stewardship in the Niagara Region of Canada: How Do Elements of Environmental Stewardship Relate to Success?” on Friday, Oct. 1 at 1 p.m. in virtual format.

The examination committee includes Dawn Zinga, Chair; Ryan Plummer, Supervisor; Terry Chapin, External Examiner (Professor Emeritus, University of Alaska Fairbanks); Marilyne Jollineau, Graduate Program Director; and Julia Baird, Committee Member.

PhD in Psychology thesis defence

Caitlyn Gallant, a PhD candidate in Psychology, will defend her thesis “Understanding the Complex Mental Health Challenges of Children and Adolescents Seeking Community-based Care” on Friday, Oct. 1 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in virtual format.

The examination committee members are Brian Roy, Chair; Dawn Good, Supervisor; Mary Desrocher, External Examiner (York University); Tricia Vause, Internal Examiner; and Angela Book, Drew Dane and Danielle Molnar, Advisory Committee.
