The following is a list of thesis defences taking place from Monday, Sept. 20 to Friday, Sept. 24.

PhD in Psychology thesis defence

Claire Matthews, a PhD candidate in Psychology, will defend her thesis “Learning and recognizing faces across variability in appearance: An examination of children and older adults” on Thursday, Sept. 23 from 1 to 4 p.m. in virtual format.

The examination committee members are Brian Roy, Chair; Cathy Mondloch, Supervisor; Benjamin Balas, External Examiner (North Dakota State University); Ayda Tekok-Kilic, Internal Examiner; and Angela Evans and Karen Arnell, Advisory Committee.

Master of Science in Biological Sciences thesis defence

Mohamed Lahbib ben Kalifa, a Master of Science candidate in Biological Sciences, will defend his thesis “Selecting cover crop species for vineyards of the Niagara region” on Thursday, Sept. 23 at 1 p.m. in virtual format.

The examination committee includes Cheryl McCormick, Chair; Liette Vasseur, Supervisor; Mehdi Sharifi, External Examiner (AAFC); and Sudarsana Poojari and Justin Renkema, Committee Members.

Master of Science in Computer Science thesis defence

Sheikh Faishal Basher, a Master of Science candidate in Computer Science, will defend his thesis “Managing Diversity and Multiple Objectives in Evolutionary Design” on Friday, Sept 24 at 10 a.m. in virtual format.

The examination committee includes Cheryl McCormick, Chair; Brian J. Ross, Supervisor; Naser Ezzati-Jivan, External Examiner (Brock University); and Beatrice Ombuki-Berman and Ke Qiu, Committee Members.
