The following is a list of thesis defences taking place virtually from Monday, July 19 to Friday, July 23.

Interdisciplinary Humanities PhD thesis defence

Callie Long, a PhD candidate in Interdisciplinary Humanities, will defend her thesis, “Strong Medicine: Towards a Reparative Trauma-informed Decolonial Reading of HIV-related Stigma,” on Monday, July 19 from 1 to 4 p.m. in virtual format.

The examination committee includes Brian Roy, Chair; Susan Spearey, Supervisor; Lisa Diedrich, External Examiner (Stony Brook University); Ebru Ustundag, Internal External Examiner; and Robert Alexander and Trent Newmeyer, Advisory Committee.

Master of Social Justice and Equity Studies thesis defence

Jessica Falk, a Master of Social Justice and Equity Studies candidate, will defend her thesis, “Don Cherry’s Final Rant: Illuminating Canadian Nationalism, Racial Xenophobia, and Toxic Masculinity,” on Tuesday, July 20 at 1 p.m. via video conference.

The examination committee includes Dawn Zinga, Chair; Margot Francis, Supervisor; Kristi Allain, External Examiner (Associate Professor, Department of Sociology, St. Thomas University); Trent Newmeyer, Graduate Program Director; and Dawn Trussell and Andrea Doucet, Committee Members.
