Nominations sought for Advisory Committee on Vice-Provost, Teaching and Learning

Nominations are now open for faculty, staff and student representatives for the Advisory Committee on the Vice-Provost, Teaching and Learning.

The Provost and Vice-President, Academic is striking an advisory committee under Faculty Handbook Section 4:1 concerning the appointment of a Vice-Provost, Teaching and Learning. This role would replace the existing role of Associate Vice-Provost, Teaching and Learning and include an expanded range of responsibilities.

The purpose of the Advisory Committee is to make a recommendation on the appointment of the Vice-Provost in accordance with Faculty Handbook Section 4:1.

As soon as the Advisory Committee has been established, a search will be conducted and the committee will be responsible for making a recommendation on the appointment.

It is anticipated that the work of the Advisory Committee will begin in September and should be completed within four to five months.

The Advisory Committee is normally chaired by the Provost and Vice-President, Academic, and its composition requirements are:

  • One full-time faculty member representing each of the Faculties and a professional librarian, recommended by the Governance Committee of Senate
  • One undergraduate student Senator or student Board member representing the Brock University Students’ Union (BUSU), recommended by the Governance Committee of Senate
  • One graduate student Senator or student Board member representing the Graduate Students’ Association (GSA), recommended by the Governance Committee of Senate
  • One ongoing staff member, recommended by the Provost and Vice-President, Academic (ongoing staff members reporting directly to a Vice-Provost are not eligible to serve)
  • One senior administrative officer of the University, recommended by the Senior Administrators’ Council

Nominations may be submitted using the online Advisory Committee Nomination Form found on the Committee Nominations web page and will be accepted until 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 27.
