Students invited to participate in census story contest

Brock University students are invited to participate in the My census story contest.

Organized by Statistics Canada in partnership with the Statistical Society of Canada, the contest aims to increase awareness of the upcoming census in May and its importance among secondary and post-secondary students across Canada, while allowing them to express themselves creatively.

As part of the contest, students are asked to reflect on the relevance of statistical or census data in their lives and suggest creative ideas to persuade Canadians to complete their census questionnaires.

Submissions can be short stories or video clips, and will be evaluated on creativity, quality, tone and appeal. The top three will be awarded monetary prizes of $250, $100 and $50 for first, second and third place, respectively.

The deadline to enter the contest is Sunday, April 11 at 11:59 p.m. Winners will be contacted directly and announced during the week of April 19.

Questions or comments about the contest can be emailed to the Statistics Canada census communications team at statcan.mycensusstory-monrecitdurecensement.statcan@canada.ca
