A popular student-run event is moving online to continue the conversations around this year’s International Women’s Day theme of Choose to Challenge.
Taking place Sunday, March 14, the Brock Women in Business (WIB) student club presents The Rise, an event that features speakers from various business backgrounds sharing their experiences around diversity and inclusion in the workplace. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on the virtual event platform Hopin.
“I’ve seen the power of having diverse thoughts and backgrounds come together to create something really beautiful,” said WIB President Jayna Sutaria. “With the way the pandemic has affected women, it’s even more important to talk about these issues now.”
The morning features a series of Fireside Chats on imposter syndrome, finding allies in the workplace and talking about LGBTQ+ pride in business. Each of these sessions will be led by a student leader who has completed Google’s #IamRemarkable initiative training in self-confidence and facilitation.
The afternoon will feature a panel discussion that will give students an opportunity to hear from female business leaders from across diverse experience and industries and hear how they’ve found success.
“It’s about talking about actionable things that we can do to make an impact,” Sutaria said.
After the panel, students will be able to network with panelists using the virtual event platform. Registration is open to all Goodman School of Business students.
