International panel to explore historical memory of women’s rights

An upcoming panel discussion will examine women’s rights and historical memory in Canada and the U.S.

Held virtually Thursday, March 4 at 1:30 p.m., the panel features Brock Department of History Associate Professor Elizabeth Vlossak along with History Professor Margaret Lowe of Bridgewater State University and Associate Professor of History Shannon Risk of Niagara University.

Panelists will discuss how historical memory is shaped and how ideas about class and race intersect with gender in the history of women. They will also consider what steps can be taken to recognize the broad diversity of women activists shaping campaigns for equal rights in both Canada and the United States.

“Voices Across the Border” is a series of three talks co-organized by Brock’s Centre for Canadian Studies, Niagara University in New York and Bridgewater State University in Massachusetts.

The event is free, but participants are asked to pre-register through Eventbrite to receive the Zoom link.
