Brock Trustee Emeritus honoured at International Women’s Day event

At its 20th annual International Women’s Day event on Friday, March 5, the Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce (GNCC) honoured Brock University Trustee Emeritus Dr. Robin Williams.

The paediatrician and public health physician is a Special Advisor to the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care in Ontario and Special Advisor to the Niagara Regional Chair’s COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution Task Force. Williams previously served as Medical Officer of Health for Niagara Region from 1995 to 2011 and was a recipient of the Order of Canada.

“In these difficult times, it is more important than ever to help one’s community and to make life better,” said GNCC CEO Mishka Balsom. “We are pleased to honour Dr. Robin Williams this year, recognizing that the spirit which she embodies will carry us through this crisis.”

Introducing Williams at the event was Julie Rorison, Manager of Community Relations at Brock, who serves as Chair of the Women in Niagara Council.

“Every year, our International Women’s Day organizers are faced with the same challenge: to choose from among the huge number of truly extraordinary women working to make our community better,” Rorison said. “By celebrating women who have given so much back, we hope to shine a spotlight on the achievements of all women who are working to make their communities better.”
