Decolonization Working Group to host two-day symposium

All members of the Brock community are invited to participate in a two-day virtual decolonization symposium.

The Decolonization Working Group of the President’s Advisory Committee on Human Rights, Equity and Decolonization (PACHRED) will host the symposium, which will focus on transformative social justice as well as Indigenous artists and creating art from a decolonial lens.

Beginning Friday, March 26, the event will include a lineup of speakers, including academics, students and Indigenous community members, discussing various aspects of social justice.

On Saturday, March 27 the focus will shift to the arts as the group hears from author, curator, scholar and Assistant Professor of Studio Art Suzanne Morrissette, as well Brock students and award-winning Indigenous artists.

Decolonization Working Group Co-Chair Lyn Trudeau said it is important that many voices take part in the discussions.

“We believe it is necessary to hear from everyone, as working towards decolonization affects everyone,” she said.
