Brock University joins global efforts to combat anti-Asian hate and bigotry

Brock University is joining members of our community — students, faculty, staff and partners — in efforts to combat and counter anti-Asian hate and bigotry. Together, the University is adding its voice to other institutions and community groups in response to the recent mass shooting in the U.S. and the growing number of racist incidents directed at people of Asian descent since the onset of the pandemic.

“Recently, we have seen the terrible consequences of hatred and racism,” says President Gervan Fearon. “Brock University has an approved and stated goal of fostering an inclusive, diverse and welcoming university community. When any member of that community feels anxiety, fear or isolation due to hatred and racism, it is imperative that we all are clear: Brock University supports you, is here for you and stands alongside you.

“Together we stand in solidarity for an inclusive Canada that values the contributions of everyone while nurturing the opportunities for meaningful participation for all.”

The University encourages students, faculty and staff to reach out as needed for supports and assistance during this challenging time.
