CRA seminar to discuss tax relief measures for individuals, small businesses

As tax season quickly approaches, Brock is again working with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) to host an information session on personal and small business tax relief measures.

The Brock community is invited on to participate in a virtual seminar Thursday, Feb. 11 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. that will focus on the Canada Recovery Benefit, an income support for employed and self-employed individuals who are not entitled to Employment Insurance (EI) benefits.

“In collaboration with the CRA, Brock is proud to offer the latest in a series of seminars on economic recovery in the COVID-19 era,” said Phillip Gingras, Executive Director of the Brock LINC. “Many Canadians, both individuals and entrepreneurs, have been impacted by this pandemic. With the tax season coming up, this is a timely session on how both individuals and the self-employed can benefit from these measures and what impacts and implications they’ll have on your taxes.”

The session will discuss who qualifies for the benefit, tax implications, the benefit’s requirements, covenants and next steps. Following the presentation, there will be an opportunity for participants to ask questions to the CRA liaison.

The Canada Recovery Benefit is still available to give income support to employed and self-employed individuals who have been directly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and are not entitled to EI benefits.

To register for the seminar, visit Eventbrite.
