The following is a list of thesis defences taking place virtually from Monday, Nov. 23 to Friday, Nov. 27.

Master of Child and Youth Studies thesis defence

Rebecca Joseph, a Master of Child and Youth Studies candidate, will defend her thesis titled “The Mentor’s Role: Exploring Mentorship in a Working-Class Neighbourhood’s After-School Program” on Monday, Nov. 23 at 9 a.m. via video conference.

The examination committee includes Dawn Zinga, Chair; Shauna Pomerantz, Supervisor; Leanne Taylor, External Examiner (Associate Professor, Department of Undergraduate and Graduate Studies in Education, Brock University); Hannah Dyer, Graduate Program Director; Shannon Moore, Committee Member and Kevine Gosine, Committee Member.

Master of Psychology thesis defence

Valerie Rothwell, a Master of Psychology candidate, will defend her thesis titled “Under Scrutiny: Comparing the Effects of Peer Ratings on Risk-Taking” on Monday, Nov. 23 at 1 p.m. via video conference.

The examination committee includes Dawn Zinga, Chair; Elizabeth Shulman, Supervisor; Ayda Tekok-Kilic, External Examiner (Associate Professor, Department of Child and Youth Studies, Brock University); Stephen Emrich, Graduate Program Director; Tim Murphy, Committee Member and Dawn Good, Committee Member.

Child and Youth Studies PhD thesis defence

Yana Berardini, a PhD candidate in Child and Youth Studies, will defend her thesis titled “A glimpse into self-compassion among Canadian youth with and without a caregiving role” on Tuesday, Nov. 24 from 9 a.m. to noon. The defence will take place virtually.

The examination committee members are Heather Chalmers, Supervisor; Danielle Molnar and Heather Ramey, Advisory Committee; Tricia van Rhijn, External Examiner (University of Guelph); Priscilla Burnham Riosa, Internal Examiner and Brian Roy, Chair.

Master of Sustainability thesis defence

Samantha Witkowski, a Master of Sustainability candidate, will defend her thesis titled “An Examination of Stakeholder Perceptions in Conventional and Participatory Monitoring and Evaluation of Environmental Management” on Tuesday, Nov. 24 at 1 p.m. via video conference.
